At HarvestBox we provide the highest quality meats. Our meats are hand cut to our exact specifications, so we know that your HarvestBox bundle orders will be consistent in quality and taste. Our processor, Byron Center Meats, has 74 years of experience of providing excellent service. Packages are vacuum sealed and frozen immediately to ensure great taste and flavor. Your bundle is then packed by hand and prepared for shipment with dry ice in a heavy duty insulated shipping box. FedEx tracking information is provided so you can know when your HarvestBox is due to arrive.
Your meat bundle will be shipped to the address you provide in excellent condition. We ship using FedEx Ground service with no signature required, using 5 pounds of dry ice for each day in transit, so your order will arrive in excellent condition. Some slight thawing is possible during shipment. As long as items remain cold to the touch, they can be refrozen until ready to cook without affecting the product quality. It is the customer’s responsibility to unpack product from the insulated shipping box to a freezer within 8 hours of time of delivery. Please notify gift recipients that a perishable gift will be delivered to them and to freeze all products upon receipt.
Due to the perishable nature of HarvestBox products, we have a no-return policy and are unable to accept returns of any product.

We have invested time in developing solid relationships with our farm partners to ensure the quality and integrity of the product we're delivering to your doorstep every time you place an order. These farms uphold HarvestBox values to provide you with the best tasting, sustainable meat available.
Our meats are inspected and processed by Byron Center Meats, a third generation, family-owned meat processor in Byron Center, Michigan with 72 years of experience. Onsite USDA inspectors oversee the daily processing and packaging of all products for safety and compliance with government regulations.

For your convenience like items are shipped in plastic bags that can be placed directly into your freezer upon arrival. All products are labeled with the cut name and most are individually wrapped (see bundle listings for details).

Think organization and convenience as you fill your freezer!
HarvestBox cuts will stay fresh up to one year in the freezer as long as the vacuum seal holds. If a seal should happen to come loose, the product should be fine. Just use that package soon. Once cuts have been thawed in the refrigerator, they should be cooked within two to three days.
Vacuum-sealing meat packages removes the oxygen from the meat itself, sometimes resulting in varying surface color. This is an appearance issue and will not affect the flavor of the meat.
We recommend thawing meat in the package on a plate in the refrigerator, figuring that one pound takes 18 to 24 hours to thaw. If a quicker thaw is needed, try a cold water bath. Leave the meat in the package and place in a glass bowl with cold water, changing the water every 15 to 30 minutes until the meat is thawed. Once thawed, cook meat immediately to the proper safe internal temperature. We do not recommend quick thawing frozen meats in the microwave.

Cook ground beef and sausages until no pink remains and the meat temperature reaches 160 degrees Fahrenheit. Slow-cooking methods that retain moisture work well on roasts and lean, red meat.
Steaks are best grilled, broiled or pan fried. Do not overcook. We recommend using a meat thermometer and cooking to the desired doneness and then letting the steaks rest for at least two minutes after removing from the heat source, knowing they will continue to cook another 5 to 10 degrees. See the Tips card that will come in each bundle for more information on safe internal temperatures.

A good guide to reference is that one cubic foot of freezer space will hold about 25 pounds of meat. Figure 1.5 to 2 cubic of space for your full size bundle (except for the Salmon bundle which is 10 pounds). See the freezer space graphic on each product page for a good visual on this.
HarvestBox bundles make great gifts and gifting options are available at check out. Add the bundle you want to send to your cart and when you check out, mark the box designating the bundle as a gift and provide the shipping address of the gift recipient. We invested a lot of time creating just the right packaging for shipping HarvestBox meat bundles. Our full size bundles ship in a heavy-duty corrugated cardboard box with a 2” insulated liner. Product is placed in plastic bags in an interior cardboard box. Dry ice is added to keep the items frozen during shipment. Side handles help you carry the shipping box inside to unpack it, or you can open the interior box and remove just the plastic bags. Due to the smaller size of the salmon bundle and other sampler collections, they ship in an insulated cooler box.
Yes. Shipping costs are included in the bundle price.
Most packaging materials are made with recycled materials or are recyclable or biodegradable. The mineral fiber insulation is made of natural stone and a minimum of 40% recycled content. When disposed of, it will break down back into the dirt. No fiberglass here! The insulation is encased in a silver mylar plastic that is classified as a #7 “Other” for recycling purposes. The boxes are standard corrugated cardboard made with 35% recycled materials and are accepted at most recycling centers or could be reused by your family for miscellaneous storage. The gel packs (if used in your shipment) can be refrozen and reused by your family. We know of customers in hot climates that leave the box in their car trunk to carry cold/frozen groceries home from the store.
Due to the perishable nature of HarvestBox products, we do not accept returns of any product. If there is a concern with your order, we ask that you email us immediately at customercare@harvestbox.com.
HarvestBox ships from Grand Rapids, Michigan, nationwide to the 48 contiguous states (not Alaska and Hawaii). Due to customs issues, we do not ship internationally.
There is a pickup option. HarvestBox bundles are processed and packaged by Byron Center Meats in Byron Center, Michigan which is near Grand Rapids. Use the online tools to place your order, provide payment information and check the box at check out that indicates you want to pick up your order. Product costs remain the same and you will receive a Byron Center Meats Retail Store gift certificate to thank you for your trip.
HarvestBox ships using FedEx Ground service for all our shipping. All shipments require a street address for delivery. Delivery to PO boxes is not possible.
We ship HarvestBox orders on Mondays from Grand Rapids, Michigan. Order cutoff time for Monday shipment is the previous Sunday at midnight.
We ship on Mondays using FedEx Ground service. Deliveries are expected to arrive within 24-96 hours from the day we ship, depending on the shipping zone. Use the FedEx tracking information to know when your HarvestBox will arrive. We use plenty of dry ice and insulated boxes so your meats will arrive frozen.
You will receive an email from FedEx with tracking numbers and tracking tools when your order ships. Please use the tracking tools to know the estimated delivery day and time. Be prepared to unpack the box into your freezer within 8 hours of delivery. If you purchased a HarvestBox bundle as a gift, it is your responsibility to notify the recipient that a perishable package is being delivered.
No signature is required for delivery, and the driver will leave the box at an exterior door. Be prepared to unpack the box into your freezer within 8 hours of delivery.
Check your address carefully when entering it at checkout. We will ship to the address you submit and confirm the address in the order acknowledgement email. If you notice errors, please email shipping@harvestbox.com immediately. If the order has not been shipped, we can correct the shipping address. Once the order has shipped with FedEx, we are unable to cancel or reroute the order. HarvestBox products are perishable, and we cannot be responsible for them if FedEx cannot deliver to the address provided or has to reroute or hold the package.
To cancel your order, please email us at shipping@harvestbox.com immediately. HarvestBox products are perishable and orders already in transit with FedEx cannot be canceled or rerouted. We reserve the right to charge $25 per canceled order to cover any subsequent administrative expenses.
Do not touch the dry ice with your bare hands. Leave the dry ice in the package in the cooler, and it will evaporate within 24 hours.
